    and published in the book
    Les Cahiers du Modelisme No 1.
    The
    Bird Biplanes
    were built in 1931 in Brooklyn, New York by the Bird Aircraft Corporation and were intended for the barnstorming and business travel markets.
    The
    Bird
    is unique in that the area of the upper wing is twice that of the lower wing - and, in comparison to its competitors, it carried the same or even a greater load on half of the available horsepower.
    The
    Golden Age Air Museum
    in Bethel, Pennsylvania added one to its collection in 2001 and used it for sightseeing rides until 2008.  It is still maintained in airworthy condition.
