    Description

... FROM THE TRADE IN PILE... WONDERFUL GIBSON MADE CAPITAL ARCHTOP GUITAR... JENKINS MUSIC WAS A ONE OF THE LARGEST JOBBERS OF MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS IN THE ENTIRE COUNTRY. THEY WERE ONE OF GIBSON'S LARGEST DISTRIBUTORS. JENKINS MUSIC HAD THEIR OWN HOUSEBRAND NAMED CAPITAL, MADE BY GIBSON, FOR TWO YEARS. THIS MODEL WAS MADE IN 1937-1938. TOTAL PRODUCTION OF THIS MODEL WAS 53 FOR THE TWO YEARS. I WANT TO THANK PAUL FOX FOR HIS WONDERFUL BOOK " THE OTHER BRANDS OF GIBSON". I USED HIS BOOK TO GET ALL THIS GREAT INFORMATION... THE GUITAR IS IN VERY GOOD ORIGINAL CONDITION..  THIS MODEL HAS THE ALMOST 16" BODY WIDTH ON THE LOWER BOUT. HAS THE GIBSON SCALE LENGTH OF 24 3/4". PLAYS WELL AND SOUNDS GOOD. HAS THE NORMAL BUMPS AND BRUISES, SCRAPES, NICKS, DINGS, TINY DENTS, WORN AREAS THAT IT SUPPOSED TO HAVE. IF YOU LOOK CLOSE AT THE PICTURES YOU CAN SEE ON THE TOP THAT IT HAS A WEAR SPOT WORN THROUGH THE FINISH RIGHT NEXT TO THE PICKGUARD. ALSO, AN AREA OF WEAR ON THE TREBLE SIDE TOP BOUT. HAS A SMALL GRAIN CRACK ON THE REAR ON THE BOTTOM BOUT THAT HAS BEEN REPAIRED. THE AMAZING ORIGINAL FIRESTRIPE PICKGUARD IS STILL ON THE GUITAR. THE FRETBOARD HAS SOME WEAR. THE FRETS HAVE BEEN LEVELED. THE OLD GIRL IS GOING TO NEED A REFRET ONE OF THESE DAYS BUT NOT THIS DAY. SHE IS A PLAYER. I'M JUST POINTING OUT THAT THE FRETS ARE ON THEIR LAST FRET LEVELING. ON THE STRIP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FINGERBOARD RIGHT AT THE FIRST FRET MARKER THERE IS A LITTLE PIECE THAT IS MISSING. AFFECTS NOTHING BUT WANTED TO POINT IT OUT. NECK IS TYPICAL FOR THE ERA. ITS A BIG D SHAPE. VERY SUBSTANTIAL. THE NECK HAS RELIEF. IF I CAPO THE NECK AT THE FIRST FRET AND PUSH DOWN THE STRING AT THE BODY FRET I COME UP WITH A HAIR OVER .010 FOR THE RELIEF FIGURE. THATS MEASURING AT THE MID POINT IN THE NECK. THE OLD THING PLAYS, ITS LOUD... ON THE BACK OF THE NECK RIGHT BETWEEN THE TUNERS IS AN EYELET. THIS IS SO YOU CAN TAKE A SHOE STRING AND PUT IT THROUGH THE EYELET SO YOU CAN HANG THE GUITAR UP ON A NAIL.,.. THE INCLUDED HARDSHELL CASE FITS THE GUITAR WELL AND PROTECTS IT..... PLEASE LOOK AT THE PICTURES CAREFULLY.... ASK ALL THE QUESTIONS YOU WANT.
