My older brother had the machine work and welding done on this engine back in the 70's which included a crack repair between the freeze plugs on driver side(pictured). The repair weld never gave any trouble. In 1982 the engine developed a knock when cold and we tore it down found a press fit wrist pin was sliding from side to side in the rod cutting 4 grooves in a cylinder wall by the pin. I had a machine shop bore that cylinder and install a sleeve. I'm pretty sure the bore was stock back then. I was short on money at the time and chanced not replacing the other 7 rods and all 8 pistons that the machine shop recommended I should do. And after 5000 miles the same noise returned. I parked it and the engine has been sitting since the mid 80's without running. The rotating assembly still turns over. I'm selling this short block AS IS with no warranty or return. The heads are listed in a separate add. This short block is to heavy for me to ship, I'm selling it as local pick up, cash only
