Very Detailed Antique Wax Head Creche Religious Figure Nativity Doll
Maker:  Unknown but looks Dutch or German.
Marked: Base has category numbers; 25.942/40 or or RS 1D or or Box 2.
Material:  Wax head and natural fiber hair.  Painted wood hands, legs, body and platform. Wool cloth and leather accessory knapsack.
Features:   This following listing is of a very detailed antique wax head creche or religious figure or nativity doll from early to mid 1800s.  This male creche figure or doll has been displayed either in a nativity scene or in a museum.  This antique doll appears to be on an original body with nicely carved limbs, painted and secured to wood block torso with wood peg.
His beeswax colored head with distinct facial features are nicely sculpted, whether poured from a mold, then carved or just expertly carved from a block of wax - not certain but head is very thick
and black eyes which may be of glass
.  Very detailed nose and facial features.   The head barely moves and may not have intended to move.  Black shoes and orange leggings are painted to his feet/legs and he does not detach from the platform.  Arms move together in tandem.  This figure could even have been used in a "Baby House" or antique Dollhouse.
Size:   This doll is approximately 7.5 inches and 19 cm in height.
Age: 1850 give or take 20 years. May be earlier.
Condition:   Condition is subjective but item is used, probably displayed for a long time.
Antique head and body, old (if not antique) clothing.  Clothing is worn with holes/damage.  Head has a piece of wax out of neck and head has divots where hair, mustache and beard would have been but are no longer where hair was originally inserted. The left side of head has stable crack/hairline (not sure if it has any depth).
