    Description

    An excavated example of a 2 piece Civil war period or pre Civil War United States Dragoon button.    Albert# DR-4-A-3.  Button dates from circa 1850-1860.  Backmark reads RMDC " W. H. HORSTMANN  &  SONS  PHI ".   A nice dug button that has been slightly over cleaned and has traces of original gilding.  The original shank appears to have come off and been poorly glued back on.  Reattaching the shank with greater care would help this attractive button tremendously.   Button measures 21.03mm.
