    Description
    A WONDERFUL AND VERY RARE DOLL SILK PARASOL WITH A SUPERB HAND CARVED HANDLE IN THE FORM OF A DOG HEAD WITH GLASS EYES AND GREAT DETAIL, PROBABLY FRENCH AND DATING TO   C1880-1910.
    This is just a wonderful antique miniature parasol.  The very special part of this is the beautifully hand carved dog head handle.  This is superb carving!!!!!!  With a charming and charismatic face with original glass eyes.  The parasol is silk with a lovely trim and the tips of the parasol appear to be Bakelite (they may be another early plastic).
    The carving may be French or from the superb carvers of the Black Forest.  The tip is also hand carved and matches the neck of the dog and is in the form of a branch with bark details.  It has its ring attachment for the doll to hold.  The parasol is most likely from France.  It dates to c1880-1910.
    The parasol is in superb condition.  The dog head is essentially perfect.  The silk parasol is as seen in the photos - one of the rods has separated from the silk.  The parasol is 11 inches (28 cm) long.  The dog head handle is 2 1/4 inches (6 cm) wide and 3 inches (7.5 cm) long.
