    Description

    A nice example of a post Civil War period LAFAYETTE PRESENTATION button by Scovill.  This example is the restrike for the 1876 Centennial celebration as seen by the attached pigtail. Albert's PC-17.     Backmark reads " PRESENTED TO GENERAL LAFAYETTE BY L. H. & SCOVILL BUTTON MANUFACTURERS WATERBURY CON. " .    Button retains traces of its gilded finish and has some corrosion near the base of the bust.  Button measures 19.91mm.  See photos for condition details.
