    Description

    A very rare example of an non-excavated 1 piece United States Ordnance Officer's button of the War of 1812 period to about 1820.  Albert# OC-1-B.  This example has a backmark that reads  "  LEWIS & TOMES .  EXTRA RICH .  ".    Recent research indicates that these rare early Ordnance buttons may also have been worn by artillery officers.  Button measures 22.45mm.    Button has most of the original gilded finish intact.
