Rare Original Tony Sarg Mammy Doll
Brown composition head  portraying an adult woman in stereotypical manner,painted brown eyes,thick black eyeliner, broad nose, closed mouth with wide beaming smile, large lips, row of teeth, black  human hair or mohair wig, brown muslin torso and upper arms and legs, painted brown arms, painted over-sized brown shoes.
Wearing original red cotton dress with white muslin apron,undergarments,and carrying handmade  cloth baby with stitched facial features,wearing a muslin dress.
Designed by the famous artist Tony Sarg,circa 1934.
Sarg was the designer of the original puppets for the Macys Thanksgiving Parade
One of his similar dolls sold at
Theriault's for 50.
In very good condition with the exception of some color missing from the nose, lips and shoes.  Structally fine.
