    A superb
    ultra rare
    example of a
    non-excavated
    2 piece Civil War period Confederate
    LOCAL
    CS over A general service button.  Albert# CS-88-A.   This example has a blank local type flat back.    Button measures 16.95mm.  Button has wonderful rich dark mustard brass patina.  This button has a tiny dimple in the front that does not detract from this exceptionally rare button.  These buttons were made from very thin metal and were subject to dents and dings far more than most buttons.  This example is far better than most of the few known non-dug specimens.  This button was discovered several years ago in a Memphis, Tennessee estate.   It is still housed, to this day, in the Memphis jeweler's ring box it was found in.  Box included with purchase.  S
