    A
    very rare
    example of an excavated 1 piece War of 1812 era campaign button for Caleb Strong of Massachusetts.       Albert# UNLISTED.   This is the only excavated example of this button I have encountered and only the second I have owned.     Backmark reads "
    STRONG  ****  FOR EVER  ****   *  OLD  *  MASSACHUSETTS
    *  ".    The face is blank.    Button has a dark excavated patina.  There is no shank.   Button measures 21.15mm.  See photos for condition details.
