    Description

    This auction is for 4 rare original antique Civil War Confederate States South Carolina State Seal militia soldiers uniform buttons, 3 coat buttons and 1 cuff button, all marked: SC - and with the Palmetto Tree and crossed arrows symbol. These four buttons actual represent 3 different variations of the Palmetto tree.  The cuff button is also marked: HORSTMANN & ALLEN - N.Y. - One coat button has a larger dome and flat rim and is also marked: GEORGE EVANS - PHILA. - The other two coat buttons have a flatter dome and are also marked: VAN WART - SON & CO. - The larger dome button has only a very minor shallow dent and otherwise these buttons are in excellent to near excellent condition. The smaller one measures approx. 5/8"+ in diameter, the other three measure 7/8" in diameter, and the total weight is 15 grams.
